DRIER MONDAY, MORE RAIN WEDNESDAY

---------------

TONIGHT:  Lingering rain, with thunder possible.  Becoming breezy.  Steady or warming temps.  Low 53.

MONDAY:
Shower chance early, then some sunshine.  Warmer & breezy.  High 73.

TUESDAY:  Clouds increase through the day.  High 59.  Rain chance develops late Tuesday night.

---------------

The chance for rain, some heavy, will continue into the night then slowly taper off during the morning hours on Monday as a warm front lifts north. An associated cold front will lag behind to our west. That leaves us in warmer air Monday with highs in the low and middle 70s along with gusty southwest winds.

The cold front moves through late Monday. We'll be in the cooler air behind the front on Tuesday. That old front will stall just offshore. Low pressure will develop along that front leading to another good rain chance on Wednesday for us. The precipitation may even end with a few snow flakes Wednesday night. It's a very small chance and there will be no accumulation here although an inch or two is possible for the highest elevations in the mountains. We dry out in time for Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

Showers, Some Thunder, Breezy Tonight

Current temperatures:

Forecast:

Clouds and rain built across North Carolina on Sunday as a developing storm system slowly worked its way into the eastern United States.  Rain chances will continue through the night as will a chance for thunderstorms.

A warm front will lift across the state during the night.  With this, we will see temperatures hold steady or even rise.  Also, the air mass over parts of central and eastern North Carolina could become more unstable and is expected to lead to the threat of thunderstorms.  Some storms could become strong to severe with damaging winds being the greatest threat but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

Skies will be mostly cloudy with a few isolated showers on Monday.  It will be very warm and breezy.  Cooler air builds into the state on Tuesday and a new system will bring rain and maybe a few wet snowflakes by Wednesday.

Right now, Thanksgiving Day looks to be mostly sunny, cool and dry.

RAIN ENDS TONIGHT

A warm front will lift through the Carolinas tonight and that will lead to more rain. Some periods of rain may be heavy, and a few gusty storms will even be possible especially east of I-95. Look for the rain to taper off by late tonight.

Drier conditions are expected for Monday and temperatures will likely soar into the 70s. However, another cold front will send temperatures back down as we head toward Thanksgiving. In addition, a coastal low may track close enough to the Triad on Wednesday and the result could be more chilly rain, mainly east of Greensboro.

----------

EVENING: Rain at times. Temp near 46.

TONIGHT: Rain ends, milder. Temp near 58.

MONDAY: Partly sunny, breezy. High near 72.
