ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. – The winter holiday break came a little early for many students in the area. The threat of snow and a tough commute forced some school districts to ring the final bell early, and the scramble was on for parents and school leaders to get the kids home.
At South Rowan High School, students, not exactly dressed for the weather, enjoyed their half day. By noon, the campus resembled a ghost town, with the exception of a few students.
Officials also cancelled all evening and weekend activities in the Rowan-Salisbury School System.
