WADESBORO, N.C. -- Police in Anson County have arrested 16 suspected drug dealers. The drug bust is part of a six-month-long undercover investigation. Officers were actually looking to arrest 24 suspects.

Cocaine, meth and marijuana are all substances involved in the operation. Anson County's sheriff says this operation will make a mark in the county.

"Well it will have some impact," said Sheriff Tommy Allen. "I'm sure a lot of these guys and females have been through this before. It's not going to be their first time through the system"

Allen said the dealers might be small factors in the drug world, but they are big contributors of street violence in the community.

“This is people we have actually bought from; marijuana and cocaine and crack,” said Allen.

The operation was called "Silent Night." Authorities say most suspects arrested have sold drugs to undercover officers. ClientIP: UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
