MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. — Anyone who can not make it to Times Square to see the ball drop has another great alternative, the 13th annual Pickle Drop in Mount Olive.

A lighted, 3 ft. pickle will drop down the company's 45 ft. flag pole into a perfectly preserved pickle tank. Around 2,000 people are expected to attend. Noise makers and hats will be given out to get the crowd going.

"We have the harmony boys which is a local really popular gospel group and they play and our free refreshments are pickles, hot chocolate and cookies,” said Mt. Olive Pickle Co. spokesperson Lynn Williams.

People can win a prize if you bring a canned food item to benefit the food bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. The gates open at 6:00 p.m. and the pickle will drop at 7:00 p.m. ClientIP: UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
