RALEIGH – A state and federal investigation into child pornography resulted in 24 arrests in North Carolina, including an active-duty Marine, a school teacher and a fire captain.
Thursday, North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper said the arrests were part of Operation Spyglass. The State Bureau of Investigation teamed up with the Federal Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to investigate trafficking of sexually explicit photos and videos depicting children.
Cooper says there is still more work to be done.
"We are getting the job done with the people and the resources that we have,” said Cooper. “We can do more if we have more analyst and agents and equipment."
Officials say they also seized nearly 30 computers containing hundreds of thousands of illegal photos and videos of abused children.
