CHARLOTTE -- The lead homicide prosecutor with the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Office was fired.

Marsha Goodenow spent the last 20 years at the D.A.'s office, sending dozens of convicted criminals to prison. She was notified Monday of her termination.

Goodenow had no comment at this time. Sources say even she doesn't know the reason why she was fired. Several calls and emails to current D.A. Peter Gilchrist, were not answered.

"I don't really have insight into the ins and outs to what goes on in Mr. Gilcrhist's office,” said attorney Bill Powers. “I'm not privy to that. I will say she was an asset to Mecklenburg County as a prosecutor. I think people, as a whole and the legal community, wish her the best of luck in finding another position... maybe on our side defending people."

News14 Carolina checked with the State Bar Association and learned there is no public information about Goodenow's recent termination and no history of discipline with the State Bar. ClientIP: UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
