RALEIGH — Hundreds of science fiction and fantasy enthusiasts, authors and publishers from all over the country are in the capital city this weekend for the 10th Annual Occasional North American Science Fiction Convention.

The convention features several panel discussions on a variety of topics including the art of science fiction, and literature as well as the important role of costuming and gaming. The convention will also include an art show, fan groups from around the country and abroad will be here, and many awards will also be given out.

There is a variety of reasons which draw people in to the convention, said Toni Weisskopf, publisher of Baen Books. But once you are there, a good time is surely to be had.

“There's the attraction of the unknown, the weird the strange the extrapolation of science, the exploration of your fantasy worlds, science fiction and fantasy has everything and we get together and talk about it,” said Weisskopf.

The convention runs through Sunday afternoon
