ONSLOW COUNTY -- A man has pleaded guilty to first-degree kidnapping and possession of a weapon of mass destruction after a shooting at an Onslow County Wal-Mart last March.

Police say Elijah Payne worked at the store where he opened fire and held a man hostage in the breakroom with a sawed-off shotgun. Police say Payne intended to kill one of his assistant managers and a co-worker.
